Client Monitors visit selected clients on a weekly basis for approximately one hour to provide basic social, comfort, and companionship functions and ensure each individual’s basic health, nutrition, hygiene, and care needs are being met. Also, AdvoGuard provides training to review medical records, observe each individual for potential adverse side effects from medication, for signs of over- or under- medication, and for signs of potential neglect or abuse. Most clients, but not all, are elderly and reside in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. The Client Monitor journals each visit and provides a report, in person, to an officer of AdvoGuard once every two weeks.

Requirements: Some life experience dealing with individuals who are mentally ill, mentally impaired, or suffering from Alzheimer’s/dementia. Basic ability to interact with not only AdvoGuard clients, but also nursing staff, health professionals, social workers, administrators and occasionally family members. A valid driver’s license and use of an auto is generally needed.

Compensation: The pay is $9 - $11 per hour, commensurate with the applicant’s background and training. The rewards of contributing tangibly to someone’s life and well-being are immeasurable.

Ideal Candidate: Guardianship is on the cutting edge of many fields of work, including elder law, health law, counseling, geriatrics and geropsychiatrics, substance abuse, social work and social services, the legal application of nursing, and guardianship law itself. Anyone interested in any of these fields as a career or avocation will gain invaluable hands-on experience as a Client Monitor.

Requirements: Experience in handling financial, legal, and medical placement issues for the disabled and elderly is especially helpful for the more sophisticated tasks.

Compensation: Ranges from $7 to $9 per hour, depending on the individual's experience and job description.
